Create a Vibrant Town Center
Advance the development of a welcoming, walkable town center along Route 571 that serves as a gathering place and economic hub.
A walkable town center has always been a dream of West Windsor residents, and we continue to make this happen. Many vibrant restaurants, retail and service establishments, both new and old, are flourishing here. The next step is to tie it all together into a walkable downtown.
During the last few years we have worked with Mercer County to finalize the plans for a pedestrian and bicycle friendly Route 571, bringing the district between Wallace Road and Clarksville Road and WW-P High School South together with contiguous sidewalks and safer roads. We expect the bids on phase one of this project to be out by the end of this year.
In addition, the area at the end of Wallace Road and Route 571 contains an old bus depot. The area is a long standing, contaminated eyesore. We have contracts in place with the WW Parking Authority to clean up this area and make it into a small parking lot and pocket park. On weekends, this will turn into a community event space for our new town center.
