Mayor Hemant Marathe Ph.D.

A Compassionate and Passionate Leader

 

Hemant Marathe is Mayor since 2018, and previously was a Council member since 2015. He previously served on the West Windsor Plainsboro Board of education for 12 years (2001-13), with 9 as president (2004-13).

 

He has been very active in the community for decades, and is a member of the West Windsor Arts Council, West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance, Friends of West Windsor Open Space, and the West Windsor Lions Club.

 

Hemant and his wife are 31-year residents of West Windsor, with four daughters educated in the West Windsor-Plainsboro (WWP) school system.

  • President of WW-P Board of Education for nine years; Board member for twelve years

  • Served as Council liaison to Affordable Housing Committee, Zoning Board, Parking Authority

  • Successfully managed $165 million annual school budget with more than 1,100 employees

  • Served on WW Zoning Board and Site Plan Review Advisory Board (SPRAB)

  • Member of WW Arts Council, WW Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance, Friends of West Windsor Open Space, WW Lions Club

  • Business owner for 34+ years

  • WW resident for 31 years; married 37 years; four daughters educated in WW-P School District

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, University of Washington, Seattle

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Virginia Tech

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, IIT Mumbai

 

For two successful terms, Mayor Marathe has guided West Windsor with planning, compassion and a deep commitment to our residents. 

 

He has deftly navigated our township through various complex challenges, from COVID-19 to Affordable Housing obligations, demonstrating exceptional leadership and the ability to make difficult decisions that put our community first.
