Our Goals Going Forward

Ensure Fiscal Responsibility

Maintain balanced budgets and sound financial planning to keep municipal taxes stable while delivering quality services.

During the past 8 years, we have kept municipal taxes flat, increased the township’s surplus, and maintained West Windsor’s AAA bond rating.

This ongoing fiscal performance does not happen by luck or accident.  We have demonstrated the knowledge, experience, creativity and ability to balance the many needs for spending that keeps our incredible town functioning.

We pledge to:

  • Continue our transparent budget process that includes the public, the Township Council and the Mayor discussing and setting priorities within the tight spending caps that are set by the State of New Jersey.
  • Maintain our fiscal responsibility and reputation by using real budget estimates, maintaining an even flow of appropriate  capital spending, and maintaining a robust surplus.
  • Maintain and expand our quality commercial ratables base to offset not only municipal taxes, but the County and School taxes that make up the bulk of your residential property tax bill. We don’t control County and School spending, we just collect the money for them. The main way we can keep those tax obligations in check is by spreading it around to vibrant businesses in our community.
  • Continue our long standing good relationships with Mercer County, the State of New Jersey, and the Federal Government and keep aggressively applying for and obtaining grant money.  We have used grants extensively to improve our roads, parks, Senior Center, Health Department and other township properties, equipment and staff, thus saving West Windsor taxpayers money.
  • Expand our use of technology to reduce costs and increase services, building on innovations such as our leaf vacuum truck, police technology, sewer maintenance, and upcoming website improvements for resident interaction.
