Complete the Vaughn Drive and Penns Neck Bypasses to increase safety, reduce traffic flow in residential areas and reduce congestion across town.

 

The Vaughn drive bypass will provide an additional outlet from the new Avalon W square Transit Village onto Vaughn Drive that does not exit onto Washington Road.  This provides not only convenience and safety for Avalon residents but relieves some of the traffic on Washington Road.  Phase I will be completed shortly, and provides an exit into the train station parking lot and onto Vaughn Drive.  Phase 2 will create a bypass for a more direct connection onto Vaughn Drive and Washington Road.

 

The Penns Neck Bypass has been an improvement long sought by West Windsor residents.  Initial plans called for an overpass at route 1 and were rejected due to pressure from other towns.  Our goal is to “bypass” those objections by having the bypass built entirely in West Windsor. The road would go from the bridge through the current SRI property and take a lot of traffic load off Washington Road and current residents there, while providing improved traffic flow to Route 1.
